9.00am Arrival
Guests join their Swan 55 charter yacht at Swanick Marina, Bursledon. They will be welcomed aboard by the skippers and crew with coffee and hot bacon rolls and will be split into two teams.

9.30am Leave the dock
The yachts will leave the pontoon and cruise down the Hamble River. The skipper will give an introduction to the boats and a safety briefing during this passage. A facilitator may also wish to give an introduction and set the parameters for the day.

10.15am Sail Training
Hoist the sails and head out into the Solent. Both yachts will sail along together whilst everyone gets to know the boats and each other in readiness for the afternoons match racing. The skipper and crew of each yacht will help the team, but it is up to them to decide how to fulfill the individual positions on the yacht, such as helming, hoisting halyards, trimming, grinding, navigation and tactics. Over the course of the morning the team will change between the major positions on the yacht.

11.30am Team Selection
The team has to select whom to put in which position. By allocating the most suitable people in each position and beginning to work as a finely tuned team the chances of winning the race are greatly improved. This selection will maximise their potential as a yacht crew. Once they have made these decisions there will be one hour of race training involving start maneuvers, tacking, gibing and fast boat handling.

1.00pm Break for Lunch
Stop for drinks and a delicious buffet lunch in a sheltered anchorage. We often use Osborne Bay on the Isle of Wight, which is where Queen Victoria used to summer.

2.30pm The Race
The skippers of each yacht will set up a racecourse using various marks around the Solent. The teams will have to take on the challenge of navigating around these marks taking in account the wind direction, tidal streams, and wind strength across the course and other obstacles within the vicinity. These extra factors added to the challenge of perfect crew work, will make the teams think throughout the afternoon. Racing provides individuals with mental and physical stimulation as well as creating the ideal team building environment of rising to the challenge with the ultimate goal of beating the other yacht to the finish.

5.00pm Back to base
Drop the sails at the mouth of the Hamble River and motor back to the marina; afternoon tea will be served during this passage.

5.30pm Debriefing and facilitator/ skipper??s assessment of individuals and team working as well as management techniques.
Prize giving.

Guests depart.
